This 8.5" x 8.5" Octagon Tierra High Fired terra cotta floor tile is handcrafted from carefully selected natural clay and fired at approximately 1180–1200°C. Details & Character
Tierra High Fired terra cotta tiles are made from carefully selected and formulated natural clay under strict quality-control standards. Only high-quality raw materials and proper clay formulation can withstand firing temperatures of approximately 1180–1200°C without cracking or breaking during production.
This high-firing process creates a dense and highly resistant clay body with moisture absorption of ≤ 5.3%. Compared with many traditional low-fired Saltillo and mission-style terra cotta products, Tierra High Fired tile offers greater density and durability while preserving the warmth and handcrafted character of natural clay.
The unglazed natural clay surface has a coarse, irregular texture with earthy color movement, handmade edges, and subtle surface markings. Differences in dimensions, thickness, shape, color, and texture are intrinsic characteristics of the tile rather than manufacturing defects.
This 8.5" x 8.5" Octagon is a full-size specialty floor shape. It can be used in custom geometric layouts or combined with the Four Point Star to create a continuous repeating pattern with strong architectural character.
The completed pattern works especially well in Spanish, Mexican, Mediterranean, Moorish, hacienda, mission, rustic, and California-style interiors and exteriors.

Variation, Sealing & Installation
Before installation, inspect the complete order and dry lay tiles from multiple boxes. Blend the material to distribute color, texture, size, thickness, edge detail, shape variation, and surface character throughout the finished area.
Tierra tiles are supplied unsealed. Tile and grout must be sealed with a high-quality penetrating sealer designed for natural terra cotta, such as 511 Impregnator, to help form an invisible barrier against moisture and stains.
Sealing before grouting is commonly recommended to help protect the textured terra cotta surface and reduce grout staining. Always test the selected sealer on sample material before applying it to the entire installation.

Care & Maintenance
Clean spills promptly. For routine maintenance, damp mop floor tile with water and a neutral pH cleanser suitable for sealed natural terra cotta.
Do not use abrasive cleaners, acidic products, bleach, or harsh chemicals that may damage the tile, sealer, or grout.
